Dein Papagei Your Parrot Vital Pellets Herbal Blend is a complete pellet food formulated for medium and large parrots, combining selected grains, herbs and vegetables with essential nutrients for balanced everyday feeding. The package recommends it for large parakeets, conures, amazons, African grey parrots, macaws, cockatoos, pionus, caiques and other medium to large parrots. Its composition includes corn, wheat, millet, oats, linseed, dicalcium phosphate, buckwheat, safflower, soya, products from the processing of herbs including curcuma, dandelion, nettle and celery, brewer’s yeast, calcium carbonate, vegetable oil, peanuts, safflower, salt and carrots. The formula is made with herbs, vegetables, selected grains and fine seeds and is described on the package as containing less fat than most seed mixtures. It provides vitamins, minerals and amino acids, an appropriate calcium-to-phosphorus balance, prebiotic bacteria to support intestinal flora and optimal digestion, and omega-3 fatty acids to support immunity, fertility and shiny feathers. The analytical constituents shown on the package include 11.5% crude protein, 4.5% crude fibre, 3.4% crude fat, 0.6% calcium and 0.4% phosphorus. The formula also contains vitamins and trace elements including vitamins A, D3 and E, iron, copper, manganese, zinc and selenium, together with a natural extract rich in tocopherols. It contains no added sugar, no artificial preservatives, no artificial antioxidants and no artificial colouring. Feeding instructions state that Vital Pellets can form the main diet of a parrot; when fresh fruits and vegetables are offered daily for variety, the pellets should account for at least 70–80% of total food intake. Additional vitamin or mineral supplements are not recommended when Vital Pellets are used as the main diet, and fresh drinking water should always be available.
